In case you didn’t already know, an engine ‘knock’ is the result of an abnormal engine detonation, caused my the wrong air/fuel ratio and can lead to a catastropic failure – meaning, your engine could explode into a thousand tiny pieces or you could experience a piston turning into a missile and promptly ejecting itself from your engine block.

While only really necessary on highly strung engines that are operating at extremes above and beyond what even an averagely-tuned engined deals with, a knock amp should be on any performance enthusiasts list who wants to ensure he or she knows about what their engine is doing at all times.
Basically it works by means of an electronic microphone-type device being installed in your engine, which monitors the sound your engine makes with each combustion. The HKS knock amp (or AFK) is designed to be used with the factory knock amp on most modern cars andshouldn’t require much installation.
I wouldn’t recommend just anyone going out and buying one as it’d probably be a slight waste of your hard-earned, but if you are one who’s really into pushing your vehicle to the limit and you regularly give your engine a hard time, maybe this is the bit of gear for you.
Check it outby going to HKS’ website.
