Today is the first time since I’ve been in Malaysia that I’ve really been bored, as it’s a Sunday and I’ve got absolutely nothing planned. You see, if I were religious I guess this would be my church day, but since I’m not I’ll just have to find something else to do.
Normally If I were back home in Australia (I really should stop calling it home considering Johor Bahru is basically home now), I would use a day like today to get in my car and go driving, probably spending a day on th Sunshine Coast, or even taking it for a spin down the brake-meltingly sublime Toowoomba range road. But since I’m in Malaysia with no car to speak of, I can’t do any of that.
And to be honest, it blows goats just a little.
There is almost nothing to me more satisfying on Earth than going for a drive - unless of course it’s in a bore-inducing automatic vehicle - and for the last month I haven’t even stepped through the driver’s portal of any kind of car, which is the longest time in my life since I’ve had my license that I haven’t had the pleasure of being behind the wheel of anything.
Right now I’m so desperate to have my car fetish sated that I considered getting in a cab and paying him twenty ringgit or so just to drive me around, but that would only be a temporary fix to my problem and of course, I doubt he’d let me drive.
Well, at least I’ll have the whole day to write up some articles and scour the web for lots of JDM goodies for you all to read about. And if I get really hungry for a driving fix, I guess I could just hire a car for a day.
I’m bored. I need a car. Now.
