One of my favourite Japanese part makers has to be Kakimoto. Not only do their exhaust systems have a proven track record of adding a decent hit of power by helping your car breathe easier, but they generally transform your engine note into an automotive symphony that always makes me imagine that the deep-yet-sweet voice of the divine is speaking through your vehicle’s waste disposal unit.
Anyway, Kakimoto have just released their Hyper Fullmega N1 exhaust system for the brand spanking new Evo X, which should deliver quite a decent gain in power over the OEM item if their previous performance history is anything to go by.
The other benefit you’ll get from one of these is that it will add a tiny bit of a facelift to what is in my opinion the atrociously styled rear of the car. I honestly don’t know what happened in Mitsubushi’s styling department the day they were penning the lines of the Evo, but something makes me think it involved a whole lot of psychaedelic mushrooms, some samurai and a box of crayons.
If you’re lucky enough to have an Evo X and want a what I’m sure will be a great bit of JDM piping for your car, you can pick one up from Kakimoto for just under 90,000 yen (RM2900, $910 USD).
